The SIRT, immediately on establishment, sought and obtained ISO: 9000.2001 certification from "Kvalitet Veritas Quality Assurance" sustained the certification since
then. However, accreditation of courses is a step planned by SIRT-P beyond ISO certification.
In consonance to its Mission and shared Vision developed by its stakeholders, SIRT-P has to singularly engage itself in the quest for improving the quality of its
academic services on a continuing basis.
The quest for Quality Improvement will address the systemic components that comprise the academic services of the institution - Inputs, Processes, Outcomes and Impact.
The nature of activities (Inputs, Processes, Outputs and Impact) that constitute the academic services provided by the institution include such elements like -
- The admission of students through an approved process.
- The infrastructure and resources assembled by the institution.
- The plans for transfer of learning, subject-wise, formulated within the institution, given the fact that the institution has to implement a curriculum framed and
provided by the Technological University of MP.
- The learning resources designed and developed to implement the plans mentioned in "c"
- The implementation of the plans mentioned in "c" above with the support of "d" above.
- The periodic monitoring of learning in terms of information, understanding and skills transfer through internal tests and assignments
- The periodic updating of curriculum coverage records and comparison with the plan for course implementation<
- The creation of student progress records and posting them on a website for information to students, parents and other stakeholders.
- The University examinations and consequent results.
- Administrative systems and procedures for workflow related to faculty and staff recruitment and promotion, maintenance of personal records, financial accounting,
sanctioning leave, collection of fees and financial penalties, seeking approvals from the university, AICTE and state government, distribution of scholarships and
awards, and other routine matters.
- Documentation of institution facilities, performance, impact and comparative standing among professional institutions.
- Introducing transparency about the institutional resources and their use, student academic progress, remedial measures adopted to improve student progress and
enhance quality of curriculum implementation
- A total review of the manner in which curriculum implementation and transfer of learning has occurred in each subject of the curriculum.
- The active participation of students in industrial training, Projects, paper presentation and co-curricular activities.
Student participation in extra-curricular activities.
- Skills and competencies offered and responded to by the students or academic value addition courses which lie beyond the university curriculum.
- Preparing students for employment placement and providing placement services through the institution and in consort with other institution.
- Participation of faculty in Institutional operation and maintenance, management and development activities.
- The successful contribution of faculty to research, consultancy, community services and continuing education.
- Performance appraisal of faculty and staff through different modes (student appraisal, self and superior appraisal), determining training needs from the appraisal
and implementing faculty and staff development programs based on TNA.
- Continued addition, up-gradation and modification of the learning resources conformal to need established from students, curricular and Institutional requirement.
Normally quality has to be assessed by consumers. In the case of an academic institution, consumers would be students and their parents, industry and the community.
These form the recipients of the academic service.
To assess the quality, consumers will have access to certain records and observations. It is preferable that the records are in the form of Objectively Verifiable
Indicators (OVIs). The indicators, when viewed in an integrated manner, will exhibit the "Quality Profile" of the institution and its performance. A list of OVIs is
suggested below. The list needs to be validated. A semester-wise construct of the quality profile will indicate periodic improvements and the gradual progression of
The MOVs are in fact the sources or the records from which the OVIs can be obtained or measured or observed. In the case of this institution or centre, it will be
primarily the MIS, course files and some department and office records.
